Our gowns are all based on historical authentic 14th century patterns. The cutting and style of the gowns are traditional medieval, and therefore not the slightest like the medieval fantasy style! The gowns feature a tight fitted bodice and a full skirt with or without a train. They are all laced down the back in high society medieval style! The gowns are NOT boned, since boned bodices didn't appear until the 16th century.Included in the price are the belt, a pouch bag, a breathable & sturdy fabric gown cover and a small lavender-filled bag in matching silk. Our policy is to use only natural materials like silk and acetate. We do not use synthetic fibres! Synthetic fibres are made from petroleum, a bit like plastic. The silk fabrics are all hand-loomed (hand-woven) Dupion from India. This is not strictly a genuine medieval fabric (but a lot more genuine than polyester will ever be). It has a rustic feel to it, beautiful shine and the luxurious sound that only silk makes. The gowns are all fully lined using acetate lining, also made from natural fibres.Hems, neckline, belt and beading are all hand finished. The lacing holes in the back are all handsewn (we do not use metal eyelets, that is not medieval). The lacing cords are also handmade. We have five different colours of silk in stock. So the style you like can be made up in any of these colours, and not only in the colour shown in the photo. Other colours can also be ordered on request, but since these will not be "off the roll" there will be a slightly more expensive (+ £ 70). The gown will be made to measure using your own measurements! The gowns are lovingly finished in our Derbyshire studio, close to the Peak District and the Nine Ladies stone circle, and that's where we got the name!
